In the San Juan de la Vaquería vineyard, grapes are grown and wine is produced.
Reserva de la Casa 2017, 28 months in Cabernet Sauvignon – Merlot barrels. This is a very special wine for the family because it somehow encapsulates the grapes from the first vineyard planted by Eng. Gerardo A. Flores, back when this great winemaking story in San Juan de la Vaquería was just beginning.
A selection of barrels was made, mainly to assess the potential of the area.
The varietal comes from Rueda, Spain. Gerardo, our winemaker, saw the similarity in the soils and decided to plant this varietal in this area of Saltillo, where the soil is limestone, and all the climatic conditions gave the green light for this varietal to thrive in Mexico. So now, it is the new member of the family.
The process involves 4 months in barrels and aging on its lees. Lees are dead yeasts that give the wine a smooth mouthfeel and impart certain brioche notes on the nose. It's super fresh and excellent for pairing with dishes based on cheeses, cream, risotto, pasta, seafood,
Variety: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon - 15% Malbec % alcohol: 13º
Melon hues, golden and coppery rim with brick tones. Very powerful red floral notes, fruity, reminiscent of stone and tropical fruits, very pronounced citrus notes such as grapefruit and orange peel, subtle secondary aromas such as wax and honey.
On the palate, it is sweet on entry, with medium-high acidity, giving a sensation of freshness; at the end, it is firm, giving it good persistence on the palate, with subtle and pleasant tannins.
Serving temperature: 8 - 10 degrees Celsius
This wine pairs very well with hamburgers, tacos, steamed tacos, seafood, pasta, sushi, taking care with very spicy ingredients and lemon.
This wine is very smooth on the palate, with 8% alcohol; it's considered a beginner's wine, and its low alcohol content also makes it pair very well with mild dishes, soft cheeses, appetizers, even popcorn or potato chips.
This is the wine with which the Aguirre Lobo family's entire story began.
This wine spent 12 months resting in barrels and 12 months resting in bottles, making it a crianza wine. It has 13.5% alcohol. Furthermore, the flavor of the fruitiness and the tannins from the barrel are super balanced, making it undoubtedly a super fresh wine on the palate. It brings all the power of a Cabernet and the fruit contributed by the Merlot as well. Good acidity and well-structured. Expressing 100% the flavor of the land of Saltillo.
